How do you do Kiddush?

Kiddush is a blessing said before a festive meal for a Jewish holiday – including Shabbat. The holiday is welcomed with lighting candles, and then comes the Kiddush.

Doing Kiddush is quite simple: Fill your Kiddush cup with wine or juice (traditionally, grape, since the blessing thanks God for fruit of the vine), hod it in your hand,  and say the Kiddush – the blessings thanking God for the fruit, the holidays, creation, and redeeming us from slavery in Egypt.

A simple Internet search will lead you to the actual blessings – we like the Reform Judaism site, https://reformjudaism.org/ - but you can also download the Shabbat Kiddush for free from our website.
